The Four Stages of Healing
All Levels workshop with Nadiya NottinghamSaturday, Sept. 18 • 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
$10 (Active IYINY teachers free)
Please sign up at reception by Thursday, Sept. 16
In order to be an effective healer we need three essential tools: A good methodology, a sound philosophy of life, and third, we need to continually convert and exchange negative energy into positive in order to maintain our own life force. To be truly effective teachers we need to recognize the four stages of healing and hone our judgment as to which stage our students/clients are at.
The stages of healing are as follows: 1. Crisis (the price of awareness); 2. Confusion; re-setting the mind; 3. Transformation, change; 4. Surrender, acceptance of change.
In this teachers’ workshop we will explore how to recognize the various stages of healing in our students and how to apply the teachings of yoga accordingly. And for the teacher, how to develop a self-healing practice in order to maintain our own balance, compassion and energy levels while being an optimum force for good in the world.
Nadiya Nottingham is a Healing Arts practitioner who began her meditation practice in Ireland over 35 years ago. She is a senior teacher at New York’s Integral Yoga Institute where her workshops on Pelvic Power, Bone Strength and Shamanic Womb Healing are some of the Institute’s most well attended offerings. She is also a certified Wisdom Qigong teacher. Nadiya’s authentic approach is rooted in her own momentous self-healing, which is reflected in her joyous, nature-inspired teaching style. http://www.nadiyanottingham.com

All Levels workshop with Carla Ardito
Saturday, Oct. 23 • 3:30-5:30 p.m. $10 (Active IYINY teachers free)
Please sign up at reception by Thursday, Oct. 21
The path of the breath is a workshop designed to promote breath awareness on and off the mat. The workshop has been broken down into three distinct sections. In part one of the workshop, you will be taken through a short lecture of the physiological and anatomical aspects of the respiratory system. The second part of the workshop will consist of an experiential study in which the students explore the breath in relation to spinal positioning. The third section will be group and individual instruction on using the breath to release tension in the hips, lower, mid and upper back, shoulders and head.
“Learn how to exhale, the inhale will take care of itself”
Carla Dharani Ardito has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. After completing university in 1981 she went on to study the respiratory system and vocal production, became a voice teacher and trained numerous actors and singers to efficiently use the breath and body. After completing certification as a yoga instructor at the Integral Yoga Institute, Carla continued to study the science of the breath and in 2003 she developed a workshop devoted to teaching individuals how to integrate breath awareness into the practice of yoga. Carla’s passion lies in sharing her knowledge of the relationship between our breath and our emotional
and physical health.
