Arturo Peal is an anatomy and physiology (A&P) instructor and a certified Yoga therapist. He co-leads the Therapeutic Yoga training program. He holds a master’s degree in Chinese medicine, practices craniosacral therapy, and has been involved in the “alternative” health-care field for more than 30 years. Arturo teaches A&P for Yoga teacher trainings and studios, for body workers, and for other movement specialists. His weekly class in Therapeutic Yoga serves students who are unable to do a traditional Vinyasa practice. Beth Donnelly Cabán, R.P.Y.T., is a Hatha Yoga teacher who specializes in Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Labor and Delivery, and Yoga for new moms and babies. She is a certified Yoga instructor (Integral Yoga Institute), a certified midwife assistant (The Farm), and a labor support doula (DONA). Cheri Clampett, E–RYT 500, is a certified Yoga therapist with over 20 years of teaching experience. She is the founder and director of the Therapeutic Yoga training program. She has also co-led the Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher training and has presented Therapeutic Yoga at the White Lotus Foundation teacher training, the Beth Israel Medical Center, and the Rusk Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center. Cheri currently teaches Yoga at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara, where she founded the Yoga program for cancer patients in 1999, and the Santa Barbara Yoga Center. As a certified Yoga therapist, Cheri focuses on the healing aspects of Yoga: freeing body, breath, and flow of energy through practicing with awareness, compassion, and love. Claudia Copparoni is a Certified Ohashiatsu® Instructor, affiliated with the Ohashi Institute in Manhattan. Her interest in Eastern philosophy and alternative medicine led her to study acupuncture, bioenergetics and Aikido, and eventually to the Ohashiatsu program, which she followed in Italy from 1993 until 1999, when she completed her instructor training. Since then she has taught extensively in Italy and in the U.S., and also translates for Ohashi when he teaches in Italy. Her knowledge of two cultures makes her a lively and thoughtful teacher, who communicates effectively with students.


Dianne (Rashmi) Galliano, E.-R.Y.T. 500, is a certified Gentle, Hatha II, and Hatha III Integral Yoga teacher and has been teaching at IYI since 2006. Dianne certified as a teacher of Prana Yoga with Jeff Migdow, M.D., through the Open Center in New York City; of Vinyasa Yoga with Stephanie Keach in Asheville, North Carolina; of Yoga Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff at the Breathing Project in New York City; and of “Relax and Renew” Yoga through Judith Lasater. She has advanced training in Prenatal Yoga from Suzanne Cardinal (“Into This World”) and training in Reiki levels 1 and 2 from Tom Capshew.


Dr. Steffany Moonaz received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yogaville in 2003 and followed it with a 500-hour program in Yoga Therapy at yama studios in Baltimore, Maryland. Through her doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, she worked to develop and evaluate a Yoga program specifically for the arthritis population. Inga (Ishwari) Benson, E.-R.Y.T. 500, S.Y.T., R-D.M.T., M.A., is Integral Yoga certified in Hatha I, II, Therapeutic Yoga, Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga, and is certified as a Structural Yoga Therapist from Mukunda Stiles. She has a Master’s degree in Dance Education and is a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist. She uses Yoga and Dance Therapy to facilitate integration and healing in group and private classes. In the field of Yoga Inga is grateful for the teachings of Swami Ramananda, and also integrates the work of Leslie Kaminoff, Mark Whitwell, and Amy Matthews. She is an Integral Yoga Teacher Trainer for Basic TT, Children's TT, and has also lead Prenatal TT.


Ja Bolden was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the Ohashiatsu program in December 2004 and started the Certified Ohashiatsu® Instructor training in April 2006. Ja has also been the Institute’s Registrar for three years and brings his enthusiasm for Ohashiatsu to his relationships with students and clients. Ja says that “spirit brought me to the Ohashi Institute.” Passionate about Oriental Martial and Healing Arts, he decided to start Ohashiatsu® to enhance his awareness and sensitivity of the body. Ohashiatsu® helped him to better understand the human being and movement in Martial Arts. Along with Ohashiatsu®, he is also training for his black belt in Karate and practices Qi-Gong. His goal is to combine his learning into a form that children can learn easily and spiritually digest.


Kali Morse, E.-R.Y.T. 500, R.P.Y.T., is director of the Teacher Training programs at the New York Integral Yoga Institute. She has been practicing and teaching Yoga since the 1970s. In addition to serving at IYI, Kali teaches Yoga to undergraduate students in the Physical Education Department at Barnard College. She is certified to teach Integral Hatha Levels I, II, and III, meditation, Raja Yoga, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, and Therapeutic Yoga.


Kelly Devi is a certified Integral Yoga Hatha I, Prenatal, and Postnatal teacher and a labor support doula. She has worked for ten years in the social services field and is currently in training development.


Lara Kohn Thompson, E.-R.Y.T. 500, R.P.Y.T., is a certified Yoga teacher (Integral Yoga Institute) for Levels I and II, Prenatal, Postnatal, and Therapeutic Yoga. Her practice incorporates a profound understanding of anatomy for movement that she learned during 20 years as a performer and teacher with leading dance companies in France. She has worked extensively with Blandine Calais-Germain, a physical therapist and author of many books in the field of anatomy for movement. Lara is certified in Germain’s Anatomy of Movement series (“Périnée et mouvement”© and “Abdos sans risqué”®), specifically designed for pelvic floor health and core training. She is a certified Approche Posturo-Respiratoire (APOR) practitioner with a focus on prenatal, birth, and postnatal stages. Mangala Warner, M.S., E.-R.Y.T. 500, has a master’s degree in human performance (exercise physiology) and an extensive background in biomechanics, exercise testing, health research, and programming. For the past ten years Mangala has been a devoted student of Mukunda Stiles, founder of Structural Yoga Therapy and the Yoga Therapy Center in Boulder, Colorado. Currently Mangala co-instructs SYT training and leads workshops throughout the U.S. Mangala is the former director of Teacher Training for the Satchidananda Ashram in Yogaville, Virginia. She instructed portions of the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Cardiac Yoga™ Teacher Training programs for Integral Yoga International. Nancy O’Brien, R.Y.T., a certified Hatha I and Therapeutic Yoga teacher who credits her ongoing recovery from serious illness to IYI’s teachers, is committed to taking Yoga to people with medical challenges. Specializing in therapeutic practices, she teaches Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain at the Institute. She has developed wellness and Yoga programming in senior centers, hospitals, and clinics, including Bellevue’s 9/11 Clinic, Stuyvesant Town in New York City, Bellevue’s Parkinson’s Clinic, and Coler-Goldwater, the city’s rehab and special nursing facility. O’Brien is certified by the Arthritis Foundation in its exercise and Tai Chi programs. Nina Priya Ma David (Priya Ma), M.A., E.-R.Y.T., has created healing-arts programs for medical, educational, spiritual, and community organizations for more than 25 years. She teaches at the Integral Yoga Institutes in New York City and California and at Satchidananda Ashram in Virginia, presents talks at conferences, and offers teacher and caregiver training throughout the United States. Priya Ma originally founded Creative Yoga Therapy to address the needs of those who are not especially responsive to traditional approaches to learning. OHASHI is the founder (1974) and director of the Ohashi Institute, a nonprofit educational organization with schools all over the world. He has taught and lectured for various institutes, such as Esalen, Omega, and Dermalogical Institute; at Rockefeller University, Harvard Medical School, and Logan Chiropractic College; and for L’Oréal Europe. Ohashi has published six books and produced seven training DVDs. A passionate teacher who brings humor and joy to his classes, Ohashi is an internationally recognized master teacher.


Patrizia (Netri) La Lumia is a certified Integral Yoga Hatha I, II, Therapeutic Yoga and Meditation teacher. She has also completed the Yoga Anatomy Training with Leslie Kaminoff. In 2008 and 2009 she co-led the IYI Yoga retreats to Tuscany. Since 2010 she has joined the Basic Teacher Training staff as a junior trainer. Netri has been practicing Yoga since the early 90’s and is a life-long student of holistic and wisdom traditions, she is also Usui Reiki Master/Teacher and has studied Thai Yoga Massage.


Shankar Impagliazzo has been a student of Yoga, Zen, and the martial arts. He has taught at IYI for over 20 years, including as an instructor for IYI’s meditation Teacher Training.


Sonia Sumar started teaching Yoga for children with special needs after the birth of her second daughter Roberta, in 1970. Roberta was born with Down Syndrome, a Genetic disorder characterized by mental retardation and other developmental delays. The changes Sonia saw in Roberta lead her to attend a Yoga Teacher Training program and in 1972 she received her certification. Sonia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education and has taught at the elementary school level. She has conducted workshops and has addressed special education programs and symposia in Londres, Brazil, and throughout South America. In 1980 she founded the Integral Yoga Center of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, which is now headed by her daughter Renata. In September of 2001 Sonia opened the National Headquarters for Yoga for the Special Child, Satchidananda Yoga Center in Evanston, Illinois. She continues to teach children and adults and offers specialized training courses to Yoga teachers and other professionals who wish to learn her methods. Swami Asokananda, a monk since 1973, is one of Integral Yoga’s foremost teachers, known for his warmth, intelligence, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience, since he has absorbed the wisdom of his guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda, since the age of 19. While he enjoys sharing the practical wisdom of the Yogic philosophy (especially that of the great Indian scripture the Bhagavad Gita), he also loves his practice of Hatha Yoga and is one of our primary instructors for Intermediate and Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training. In the past, he has served as the president of Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville® and Integral Yoga® International; he is currently the president of the New York Integral Yoga Institute.


Swami Karunananda, an Integral Yoga teacher since 1971, has taught in a wide array of settings. She developed the Integral Yoga Teacher Training programs in Raja Yoga and in pranayama and meditation. She has served as president of Satchidananda Ashram in Virginia and in California and as director of the Integral Yoga Institutes in San Francisco and Santa Barbara. She currently serves as vice president of Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville, overseeing the Office of Spiritual Development.


Swami Ramananda served as the president of the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City for more than a decade and is a greatly respected senior teacher in the Integral Yoga tradition. He has been practicing Yoga for over 30 years. Through his affinity for and devoted study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Ramananda offers practical methods for integrating the teachings of Yoga into daily life and coping with stress, depression, and anger. He leads advanced-level Yoga teacher training programs in New York City and a variety of workshops in many locations around the country. He is a founding board member of the Yoga Alliance, a national registry that supports and promotes Yoga teachers as professionals, and he is currently the president of the San Francisco Integral Yoga Institute.


Zoe Kowalchuk, B.A., E.-R.Y.T. 500, was introduced to Structural Yoga in 1996, when she took a seminar with Mukunda Stiles in Denver, Colorado. She began training as a Structural Yoga teacher, received certification from Mukunda in 2001, and certified as a Structural Yoga therapist in 2003. She has also assisted Mukunda in training other Yoga therapists. Her Yoga experience covers 43 years, during which she studied with several teachers and received a previous teacher certification, in 1985. Among her other trainings are Marma Therapy, Tantra Yoga, Yoga and Ayurveda, Yoga Kinesiology in Asana, Pranic Healing, and Shamanic Studies. Zoe is a charter member of IAYT and a member of Yoga Teachers of Colorado. Her Yoga studio, Yoga Space in Evergreen, has operated since 1983.
